Maidenhead Hockey Club is very pleased to announce the appointment of England and Great Britain international David Ames to its coaching staff. David will be coaching the Mens 1s team for the forthcoming season, alongside a strong, existing team, headed up by Rohit Kapoor.

David is a Level 2 qualified coach and represented Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics. He has 93 England and Great Britain caps and 64 caps for Ireland.

Both David and Rohit will also be providing some coaching for the rest of the Men’s section on Tuesday evenings (8-10pm), at Altwood School.

Viren Walia, Men's Captain said:" We are delighted to be welcoming David to the club. I am confident he will make a valuable addition to the coaching team here and I know our players are excited to have him on board."

Lindsey Lucas, Chair of Maidenhead Hockey Club, added: "I am sure that David will have a positive impact. Tuesday evening training sessions for the Mens 1s have just commenced (8-10pm, Altwood School). Ladies training sessions are running on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The sessions are being run in accordance with the current government guidelines around Covid-19, with everyone's safety remaining a top priority.
