Last Sunday, 3rd May saw Maidenhead Hockey Clubs Ladies and Men’s teams taking their place in their respective finals of the Inaugural Cherwell Cup Competition and they both took home the silverware.
First up was the Men’s game, against Bicester. The team was a mix of the Men’s 2’s and 3’s players who were very much looking forward to the Final to round off their season this year. They were absolutely determined and the score line reflected this with a 13-1 score line, and it was great to see some of our youngest players in the side securing goals.
The Ladies side, made up of players from the Ladies 3’s and 4’s were playing away against Enigma. After a tough season for our Ladies side, the Cup game was very much the pinnacle of their year. The game was a relentless goal for goal thriller with Maidenhead eventually securing the win. Huge congratulations to Captain Kim Guest for her opening goal, a brace of goals from Amy Shuttleworth and the final deciding goal supporting by Phoebe Mikellides and slotted in by Tiana Kuvarega.
David Joshua, Director of Hockey at Maidenhead Hockey Club said: “Congratulations to all of our players, who have played in these Cup games, and the games that took them to the final. This was an amazing achievement to get the double and a fine way to end our Season at Maidenhead Hockey Club”
