M1 travelled to Windsor for an early pushback to face the recently promoted side in a must-win fixture.
The match opened with a quick exchange between the two opposing full backs, both launching aerials, before Windsor settled into a high press that earned them an early goal, slotting the ball past Ed. Maidenhead then grew into the game and created a couple of chances. The first came from a superb three-quarter-pitch aerial by Marcus Foley, taken down by Mete Griffin, who beat two defenders and laid the ball off to Alex Johnson to finish bottom right and level the match. Ten minutes later, Foley stepped up at the top of the circle for a short corner, converting—via a deflection off a defender’s foot—to give Maidenhead a 2–1 lead at half-time.
Maidenhead started the second half strongly, winning an early short corner. Foley’s drag flick from the top of the circle was saved by the Windsor keeper, but the rebound fell to Mete Griffin, who volleyed it home to make it 3–1. Windsor hit back quickly with a short-corner deflection at the left post, reducing the deficit to 3–2. Maidenhead’s fourth came from excellent pressing by Corey Swain, who picked the ball off the opposition screen, beat the last defender, and drove at the keeper before slipping the ball to Alex Johnson to flick into an open goal for 4–2. With only a few minutes left, Jamie Clark drove the right baseline on a brilliant solo run to win another short corner, which Foley clinically dispatched into the bottom left to make it 5–2 and take his season tally to 12.
