We knew we would have to put in the work and our efforts were rewarded after a scrappy goal from Jake in the opening minutes. South Berks then got a goal of their own off of a good deflection which unfortunately made it into the back of the net. Continuing to apply pressure, Maidenhead missed a 1 on 1 chance with the opposition keeper and in the counter attack, South Berks score again. 2-1.

After a much needed drag flick from Marcus Foley, Maidenhead score and we were level once again. During the very wet and sometimes windy game, many aerials were thrown and we had some exceptional passages of play, particularly in and around their 23, threatening more pressure. Pushing through their defence, we won multiple short corners, where Marcus, who had eaten a whole, family sized Camembert the night before and despite being lactose intolerant, was able to find another 2 goals which gave him a hat trick. 4-2.

Looking back on the game, we all displayed a good performance, something to be proud of. We showed our passion and when the opposition got frantic, we were able to maintain control of the game through our hard work, patience and discipline.

Marcus also wanted to include that the showers were nice and warm and the teas were lovely which I second.
