Mens 3's match report with a little self edit from winning goalscorer at bottom
A pulsating, mesmerising game that ebbed and flowed and pretty much had everything.
Maidenhead went into the game on the back of 3 wins with 12 scored and none conceded. That lasted about 3 minutes. Possession was lost cheaply, Newbury rushed through and found the corner. We fought back and got the ball forward a few times before eventually winning a short corner which was flicked home by Viren.
Newbury were moving the ball well and a foot in the D saw us concede a short. Newbury fired it into the top right corner. Newbury kept attacking and Maidenhead kept losing possession cheaply and Newbury scored another to go 3:1 up.
Through all of this Theo and Yuvraj put Newbury under pressure through some great running, Newbury were getting very annoyed with Yuvraj in particular and eventually they got a green card of their own for too many fouls.
Fortunately for us, we scored the next goal. A great run from Ed Rea carved through the Newbury midfield and defence and he slammed the ball across the D to the back post for Tim to slip home - 3:2 at half time.
As the second half started, we continued to put Newbury under pressure and Viren found the equaliser with a lovely shot into the corner.
A fourth was scored through Dave M who scored a poachers goal that barely crossed the line after a short corner was half cleared and some good umpiring allowed an advantage which meant Dave was there to turn home a cross from the right.
Newbury did continue to attack and Rav had a few saves to make including one where he took the ball off the attacker on the edge of the area. The defence of Tom, Colin, Dave M and Rich generally held firm after the early onslaught but Newbury got a very dodgy flick awarded for stuff that nobody except the Newbury umpire saw. 4:4 with about 10 minutes remaining.
Rich who was having a sterling game in defence then picked up a green for a stick tackle.
We continued to press and our tenacity paid off as another good attack was cleared but only to Mark who found Tim on the left who struck the ball on the back foot from a fair distance out and at a tight angle which nutmegged a defender and blitzed between keeper and post. Cue rapturous applause from teammates and the crowd going completely silent which put us 5:4 up. *** Some time wasting in the last five minutes gave us a well deserved win that was mainly down to great teamwork and the fact that we fought right until the last minute.
I've reserved a final mention for Ollie who started the game in midfield, then moved to centre back and then also to left back as players were carded. A captain's performance and therefore MotM.
This was a hard fought away win that might end up being the game of the season.

An edit added by winning goalscorer....
Well done Colin. Brilliant write up. Although I might need to talk to trading standards about your lacklustre description of my awesome winner, struck on the back foot from a fair distance out and at a tight angle which nutmegged a defender and blitzed between keeper and post (it all happened folks). Cue rapturous applause from my teammates and the crowd going wild.
