Despite a lethargic start by the home side, Maidenhead won a couple of short corners which they were unable to convert. As the half went on, they began to settle into the game and scored their first goal with a smashing hit from Sarah Fuller, who was played in by Jen Martin.
Maidenhead had a much improved second half during which we began to implement our pre-match objectives.
Maidenhead’s second goal could only be described as ‘textbook hockey’, in a move that was started by Issy Harris-Evans passing the ball up the line to Hannah Stone. Hannah was then able to find Sarah Fuller who passed from the back line to Chantal Frost, who found the backboard on the far post.
Amabel Hills scored Maidenhead’s third goal of the match from a short corner, expertly hitting the ball at just the right height to beat their goalkeeper.
With a three goal cushion, Maidenhead were able to keep a level head when Trojans got a goal back and Jen Martin was shown a green card. They were able to show composure that perhaps was missing at the start of the season and the game ended 3-1.
