The ladies 5’s penultimate league game of this season was a home match verses Yateley 4’s.
Yateley had first push back but from the off we started our attack, intercepting the ball and working to the D. We had some lovely play and spent most of the half in the attacking half of the pitch. We had several short corners but Yateley’s defensive team and awesome goalie cleared all our attempts at the goal.
We also had some defensive short corners which we also cleared. But after an unusual umpiring decision a penalty flick was awarded to Yateley. Kiera lined up on her goal line ready for the Yateley players shot. She expertly saved it!
At the half time talk we spoke about making sure to shut down the Yateley defensive players who had big hits.
We took this into the next half and made sure our press was tight and managed to keep the ball in the attacking half for most of this half of the game too.
About 10 minutes into this half we finally managed to find the goal with Phoebe scoring our goal of the game.
We had some more chances and several more attacking short corners. But unfortunately the final whistle went just before a lovely slip into the goal by Lauren.
A well deserved 1-0 win in the sunshine!
Player of the match goes to Kiera for her fabulous save on the P flick.
But also massive shout out to everyone in the team today. You all listened to the team talk at the start of the game and took all the focus point into our game to give us a great outcome.
Looking forward to our final league game in two weeks time!
