Maidehead U16s Girls played their first match of 2025 on Sunday against local rivals South Berks.
After a sleepy start, Maids broke though and scored to take the lead against the run of play. The game remained close with continuous South Berks pressure but strong defence and goalkeeping kept the home side’s lead, until the visitors finally converted to level the scores before half time.
The 2nd half saw both sides creating multiple chances but Maids passing game began to click and a well worked goal broke the deadlock with 15 minutes to go. South Berks pushed hard to salvage the game and a final minute short corner gave the home supporters a nervous ending before Maids scrambled the ball clear to claim a well deserved victory.
