It had been a long few months without hockey for some of the Maidenhead 2’s yet they gave a much improved performance to the reverse fixture.
The game started and Maidenhead were working for each other in possession and stuck to their men like a bad smell when out of possession. However, after a lapse in concentration Oxford capitalised and scored the only goal of the game. Maidenhead was slightly discontent on the validity of the goal, but appreciated the Umpies saw no issue. Maidenhead quickly shook off that first goal and worked hard to defend any efforts at goal (even one of the Oxford players joined their cause).
In an exhilarating end to end match, Maidenhead felt hard done by to not get a better result.
After the match Maidenhead’s men partook in a joyous team building hike to find the teas which to be honest made up for it, scoring an 8/10 the Oxford burgers were succulent and fulfilling; some players wanted seconds.
MOM, went to Tyler.
